DVFilm Maker Settings
I have been singing the praises of a tool called DVFilm Maker which can remove pulldown from 24p footage. I just found out that I had a pre-release version (2.4) which can do the pulldown correctly on HV20 footage, but which was not available to others.
I apologize for my confusion and for wasting anyone's time who downloaded v.2.3j.
Version 2.4 is now available to all (for trial or purchase).
To try to make ammends, here are the settings I use to remove pulldown with DVFilm Maker. The first page is all you need.

It crashes if you use Quicktime 7.2 (I need to run it in safe mode all the time), and it also crashes if I export with the lossless Lagarith and Huffyuv codecs (which are very popular codecs in the HV20 community). I emailed the developer about these crashes and he doesn't seem all too hot to fix the crashes, even if I gave him a link to the source footage to easily reproduce the crashes.
In fact, he had the nerve to tell me that "the output codec we recommend by the way is Raylight...". If I buy this app, and his codec, I am out for $350. In which case it makes more sense to buy the much better tested NeoHDV from Cineform for $250 instead -- at least as an HV20/Vegas user. Sorry, but before I shell a single penny on his apps I need guarantees that this guy fixes all reproducible bugs that are presented to him by users.
I also have yet to see a long-enough example of his pulldown removal method that proves to me that audio is in sync.
As for your .doc file, the guy actually linked to me his own tutorial to check for HV20 pulldown removal and the settings there were not exactly as yours. So it still is not very clear what's the most accurate setting in the "24p settings" dialog: http://dvfilm.com/raylight/raylightTutorial7.htm
EDIT: He fixed one of the three crashing bugs tonight.

Eugenia,
I'm sorry you're having these problems with DVFilm Maker. It hasn't crashed on me when I do my usual process (as outlined in my doc).
My experience with Marcus has been good; very responsive to my issues.
The settings in my doc work for me and give me beautiful 23.976 AVI footage from my HV20. It doesn't cost me anything because I already had DVFilm Maker which I have used for more than a year for its excellent intelligent de-interlacing of 60i footage.
If you have another method (free or otherwise) which accomplishes what you need, then you should use that; I'm just presenting an option which works for me.
P.S. I don't have Raylight.
P.P.S. I looked at that tutorial, and it says to use 2:3:3:2 pulldown removal. I don't think this is correct; I tried this before and got terrible combing. I believe the HV20 adds 3:2 pulldown, so you should remove 3:2 pulldown. I have been doing it this way with great results.
