Default Vegas 8 PRO for $178

Hey guys (and 2 girls), just thought I'd share this little nugget with you. I just bought Sony Vegas 6 and Vegas 8 PRO Upgrade from B&H for $178 ($214 incl shipping) thanks to a post from Jules on the Digital Juice forum.

    Sony Vegas 6 $79 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...o_Editing.html
    Sony Vegas 8 Pro Upgrade $99 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Vegas_Pro.html

It works on Vista x64, but is not optimised especially for it. They ship internationally, and if you're in the UK, you can add another £31 import tax.

    Happy days!
    Nick

    Nick,

This seems to good to be true.
If you buy a full new version of Vegas 8 you will pay a lot of dollars more . . .
    Is there something I overlook?

Jo to the O: B&H are legit, I've installed it, and trust me, there's *nothing lacking, it just works. I thought it was too good to be true too, but I took a risk and it paid off. Jump on the deal before they stop selling it!

Vegesaurus: My apologies mate, I didn't see that. This news does however deserve it's own thread. I can't wait till they bring out a version of Magic Bullet Looks that plugs into Vegas. They said Q1 2008, so I'm holding my breath.

*"nothing" is relative here, i.t.o. software. Since this is the upgrade version, you'll obviously not get the big thick manual, but who reads them anyway?

Yes, this indeed a working solution for a VERY low cost way to get VEGAS 8 PRO for little money.

It works, and B&H is totally legit (and they ship fast).

SpoilerWarning: it has it's own thread already:

But this deal can't hurt to be mentioned again, I guess....

I bought the B&H upgrade deal, but I already have the trial version vegas Pro 8 installed, is there a way of applying the serial number to the trial version?

    Thanks,
    Leo

I bought Vegas Movie Studio Plat 8 from Amazon in the UK last month, is it worthwhile attempting this or do you have to have bought the original version from B&H?

And do they ship to the UK?

And... LOL ... for a relative noob like myself, is it worth getting Pro just now?

I don't believe you can upgrade from the Platnium version this way, it is a different upgrade path. Check the Sony site.

As to my previous question, I figured it out, you can go the trial verion, go to buy by phone and enter your Serial number there, and it worked fine.

Strangely I chat online with someone on Sony support, they told me I had to uninstall the Trial version, I think he was ticked off because I refused to give him
my serial number, he didn't give me a good enough reason

Believe me, the manual in the boxed version is neither big nor thick.

Saweet! Thanks all! I'm a noob with all of this stuff, and was using the free trial of VMSP (thinking I would ultimately buy it because it was < $125USD), but this is awesome -- for essentially $50 more I get the full blown pro version. I was already lamenting some of the limitations in the Premium version and it was inevitable I would want to upgrade to pro anyway.

    Ordered mine today.
