I saw these on eBay and wondered if anyone had any experience with the seller. They seem really well built and he has good feedback. Obviously, it's overseas, so there are always risks, but it seems legit. The price just seems too good to be true.

doesn't look like a very professional site or anything, just stick to ones you know are good.

It looks too short to have any decent optics, but who knows. I wouldn't touch it without seeing some sort of footage.

It doesn't look any smaller than the twoneil adapters. I was asking about it here to see if anyone that used one had any footage up. I won't be using this for any sort of critical applications, I can rent a Letus locally for $125/day for that stuff. I am just looking for a cheap DOF adapter.

I would pass, if I were you. There's only one video on the site and it's the same one under both adapters.
Not to mention reading the fine print. Check out number 4 under returns... "All returned cartridges must be filled at least 70%." If they're just copying another site, they should at least make it fit what they're actually selling. |

As another cheap-ass, I'd wondered too... but similarly, don't want to be the lab rat who shells out $150 to test it.

Paid 279 plus 75 for shipping to Canada. Set includes DOF adapter, rod set, achromat, choice of lense mount and step up ring.
Probably the only bad thing I can say about this is that the battery pack on the side is pretty cheap... especially compared to the adapter itself. It's just thrown on with some sticky velcro that you stick to the side... I'm going to attempt to make something a little nicer to hold the battery pack. Oh yeah... no charger for the battery pack. The GG holder is made of black plexiglass and appears to be laser cut so it's clean. The GG is glued onto the GG holder, but can probably be easily removed. I had to make manual adjustments for the GG to get proper focus, but it's pretty easy. You have to move the move the GG holder up and down along machined aluminum pins that are held in by rubber 'socks'. I'll post some pictures shortly. Shipping to Canada from Korea was super fast... about 3 days, hence the 75 dollar shipping fee. Here's a sample... don't mind the scratch on the bottom right... i scratched the gg un-intentionally while doing some adjustments... The tube is very well built... cnc machined tube with a rod set and an achromat, but little blemish on a bracket for the rods were damaged, but the seller is sending me a replacement. stores.shop.ebay.com/toto486__W0QQ_armrsZ1 cineadapter.com/index.php Last edited by greatwhitenorth; 2009 June 30th at 17:58.. |

Includes a lot for the price. The footage above is the first I've seen from someone who owns one of these. The only complaints I have heard are that the seller speaks very broken English making it a bit difficult to communicate with him. To me it's an extra plus to have contact with the maker, especially for when things go wrong. I find that is what makes Twoneils and the Jag more desirable options for the price range. However, all those accessories are a nice plus.
greatwhitenorth - Could you post images of the adapter and accesories?

Just shot these in the back yard after a big rain... first part is without the DOF using only a WD 58. Second part is with the adapter.
I'll post pics shortly of the actual adapter... |

The last pic is the damaged part of the rod set that they're going to replace. Yes... they're hard to understand... but i think they understand what I'm saying... enough so that they are sending a replacement part. So far, so good... all aluminum... so it's kinda heavy, but then again, I've never owned a jag or a twoneil... so can't compare... |

Thank you greatwhitenorth. I have been trying to gather more info on this adapter for some time now. The supports for the GG look sturdy...does it "give" enough for a decent vibration?

I think the vibration works pretty well, however I really don't have anything to compare it to. Let's just say that there was some dust and stuff on the glass and when the motor turned on, it cleared up pretty good. As for the supports, they're pretty solid... the only thing is that I wouldn't want to 'accidentally' lose any of the pieces... ie. the rubber shoes and aluminum rods... they look pretty unique and ... off the top of my head... there's not a lot of things that I can find at the hardware store to replace them...

Can you give an update on this DOF? How is it holding up for you? Did they send the replacement parts? It seems a little too good to be true so I'm skeptical but that's a LOT of stuff for the price so it's tempting.
